B. 1927 - Leroy Neiman is probably the most popular painter and printmaker in America. Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, Neiman studied in St. Paul before moving to Chicago to study at the School of Art Institute of Chicago where he also taught for 10 years before moving to New York City in 1962. Through his art, Neiman has explored contemporary leisure, all the pastimes and places people enjoy, and particularly the world of sports, entertainment, and wildlife. LeRoy Neiman's style explodes with the dramatic intensity of Abstract Expressionist brush strokes, strokes that pick out action that is strikingly accurate. This unique combination is so appealing that Neiman has brought art into the lives of more people than most post-war American artists put together.

Recently, the World 2010 Games Foundation announced it has commissioned internationally renowned artist LeRoy Neiman as the Official Commemorative Artist of the 2010 Games. As the Official Commemorative Artist, Neiman will create an original painting that will serve as the "Official Image of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games," as well as a commemorative print that will incorporate each of the eight disciplines that will be featured at the 2010 Games.

The corvette has been sold..this is the one and only original hood...that LeRoy painted for a GE commercial. The painting is of an Marathon Runner. Provenance & Extra Info Purchased by the current owner in Hawaii from Leroy Neiman. It was framed in Honolulu at Juniper Arts in 1970. The Leroy Neiman Papers, 1938-2005, held at The Smithsonian Archives of American Art contain a drawing done at Wimbledon of Rod Laver in 1970. An appraisal will be provided with the watercolor for a replacemenmt value of $16,000. Rod Laver is a well known Wimbledon legend who retired from tennis in 1975.

This beautiful New York Skyline portrays retro/abstract style New York City before the Twin Towers were built. This painting is featured on page 63 of the Five Decades book published by Harry Abrams, 2003. The book photo was printed from a transparency which was printed backwards in the book by error. Leroy Neiman viewed this painting in his New York Studio in March 2007. At this time Mr. Neiman again hand signed the painting and dated it on the back of the board when he inspected it. The 50 year old painting was cleaned recently to reveal the original vibrant use of color. This painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity hand signed by LeRoy Neiman and a certificate of authenticity from the Art Brokerage.
