John Altoon was well known for his pencil and ink drawings (ca. 1950s-1960s), mostly contained in sketchbooks and tablets, as well as numerous loose sketches and several mixed-media works on board. Ferus Gallery..now in Private Collection. This painting is signed and dated. It is oil on board, -Sellers grandparents were Streeter and Camille Blair, painters and collectors. John Altoon was involved in the Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles. When the Ferus Gallery opened originally it was in a space rented to them by Streeter Blair Antiques, which is noted in any history of the gallery.
