Born Council Bluffs, IA, 1930. William Bailey was educated at Yale University, Adelphi University and the University of Utah. He taught Fine Art at Indiana University and Yale University. Awards include the Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, Isram Merrill Foundation Grant, Yale Arts Medal of Distinguished Contribution in Painting, Accademico de Merito, Accedemia di Belle Arti Peitro Vanucci, Perugia, Italy, Accademico di Merito, Accademia Naz, San Luca, Rome Italy. His collections can be seen at the Museum of Modern Art in NY, Whitney Museum of American Art in NY, among other noted galleries. |
