Léon Samoilovitch Bakst (May 10, 1866 – December 28, 1924) was a Russian painter and scene- and costume designer who revolutionized the arts he worked in. Born as Lev (Leib) Rosenberg, he was also known as Leon (Lev) Nikolayevich Bakst. Bakst is known for his stage designs and costumes for Sergei Diaghilev's "Ballets Russes". In 1914, Bakst was elected a member of the Imperial Academy of Arts. Leon Bakst died in Paris in 1924.
