Story / Additional InfoMichel Roux, a French-born liquor executive who used a distinctive and witty advertising campaign to turn Absolut, a little-known Swedish brand, into the top imported vodka in the United States. His artistic approach to branding Absolut vodka was groundbreaking, and its influence cannot be underestimated. Roux wasnt afraid to push boundaries or ruffle feathers. The Absolut Warhol campaign was followed by one with Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, Ed Ruscha, Leroy Neiman and Arman. All totaled, Roux estimates that he worked with around 3,000 artists, including musicians and choreographers; his work in the arts community gives him enormous satisfaction.
In 1988, Britto moved to Miami and emerged as an international artist. In 1989, his work caught the attention of Michel Roux, founder of Absolute Vodka Absolutions Art advertising campaign, who asked Britto to transform the appearance of an Absolute bottle for an ad campaign that would be seen by millions all over the world.
