Story / Additional InfoThis lithograph is of Oldenburg's Geometric Mouse series. Since the 1960s, Claes Oldenburg has worked at the forefront of the Conceptual and Pop art movements, and he’s best known for his monumental public sculptures. These include Lipstick (Ascending) on Caterpillar Tracks (1969, reworked 1974) in New Haven, Connecticut; Clothespin (1976) in Philadelphia; Shuttlecocks (1992) in Kansas City; and Cupid’s Span (2002), the Geometric Mouse at the Hirshhorn Museaum in Washington DC . These pieces epitomize Oldenburg’s irreverent sense of humor and fascination with American consumerism, qualities which have also pervaded his performances, drawings, writings, and artwork.
