    Story / Additional InfoThis painting was part of a juried Arts in Agriculture show in Fresno, CA. The work was created to highlight the San Joaquin Valley agricultural contributions. The ceramic chicken is from the artist's own collection. This work is an example of one of her painted collages, with a collage as the base, with different textural scraps of xeroxed images and tissue papers. The final product is an application of oil paints and pastels, creating a painted collage. The striped cloth and others are arranged in flowing tiers, much like the rolling plowed farmlands. Fruits and vegetables represent the many crops from the region and the "real" egg is behind the ceramic chicken, a humorous touch the artist added to give a sense of whimsy to the piece. A water bucket and a trowel add to the theme. The window displays a landscape of farmlands and the overall atmosphere created is one of joyful playfulness. Romare Bearden's cut paper paintings were an inspiration
