Story / Additional InfoThe artist was inspired by Joni Mitchell's song, "Both Sides Now". She was intrigued by the words "...it's life's illusions I recall" and collaged xeroxed images from many different sources, including old art history books, creating a fantasy world of her own. It is part of a series of fantasy landscapes that take liberties with reality. Yet, she includes a tiger, acrobat, woman with parasol, Freida Kahlo, and many other images that are placed in a dream-like space. The colorful details mimc those of a dream, yet there is a landscape peopled by realistic images. This work is rich with detail and tapestry like patterns. The romance of the scene coexists with reality, but illusions still exit. This is a painted collage, with oil paints used as the finishing touch.
