    Story / Additional InfoSynesthesia is experiencing more than one sense simultaneously. The artist has this experience at times when listening to music. She used pieces of xeroxed drawings from old biology books, ancient Persian drawings and paintings and vintage illustrations of undersea flora and fauna. She combines them in compositions that have the sense of reality in organization of space but on closer examination, the individual images challenge reality, creating fantasy or dream-like images. There is an illusion of a lush, exotic bouquet but the viewer is asked to dispense with a slavish sense of reality and enjoy the crossover from one world to another. The artist creates a collage first and thenh completes and unites the work with oil paints and sometimes pastels. Her work is influenced by Romare Bearden and other collage artists.
