Art Brokerage: Herb Fillmore American Artist: b. 1924. Herb Fillmore was born in Salt Lake City Utah, January 22, 1924. In 1941 Herb Fillmore joined the Navy and served his country in the South Pacific, Central America and Panama. In the Navy he acquired the nickname Fill which stuck with him his entire life. Finishing his tour in the Navy, the soldier, returned to Los Angeles and entered Chouinard Art College where he finished top of his class. He always wanted to be an illustrator so with diploma in hand he began working for Lockheed. The next few years found Fill working at various advertising agencies as a commercial artist. His dream was to be a freelance artist and after acquiring the expertise needed from the various agencies, he struck out on his own and remained a freelance illustrator until he retired. Fill was a freelance illustrator for many large corporations such as McDonald's restaurant and Mattel Toys. Later in life Fill started painting things and places that he loved which turned into another business Fillmore Fine Prints. With his attention to intricate detail, Fill painted carrousels, hot air balloons, trains, airplanes, and the Los Angeles area from days gone by. Original paintings wanted by Art Brokerage.
