Alexander Sitnikov

Alexander Stinikov belongs to a special group of Soviet artists,the Semidesyantniki-artists of the 1970s- who broke away from the strict Socialist Realist style guiding Soviet artists in the 1930s. Born in Iva, Russia in 1945, Stinikov attended Surikov Art Institute, Moscow from 1966-1972 and established himself as member of the USSR Union of Artists in 1975. Stinikov developed his own original approach to art by utilizing fables and allegorical presentations of animals. His half-animal, half-human creature intertwine, alluding to the relationship of the physical and spiritual worlds.
