DeAnna Clayton
United StatesArt Brokerage: Deanna Clayton American Glass Artist: Deanna Clayton has been working with glass for over twenty years. She was introduced to glass right out of high school while earning her Associates in Fine Arts degree in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Deanna wanted to continue her education in glass. Research showed the glass program , taught by Henry Halem, at Kent State University to have produced some of the most successful glass artists working at the time. After two years at Kent State University she moved to Champaign-Urbana, IL to attend the University of Illinois and finished her Bachelors Degree. Deanna's work fuses the aesthetics of ancient and contemporary techniques. The glass techniques she uses are some of the first casting techniques to be used in history. Her forms are contemporary concepts. Combined they create an object for a contemporary setting with the essence of an archeological find from another era. The use of granulated glass mixed with binders allows me to work with glass as though she were painting a canvas. She uses layer upon layer of color to achieve depth and contrast. The addition of electroplated copper to the edges of the work provides structural integrity as well as a beautiful detail accentuating the intricacy of the cast glass. Listings wanted.
