Denny Dent
United StatesArt Brokerage: Denny Dent American Artist: Describing Ametican artist Denny Dent's Two-Fisted Art Attack to someone who has never witnessed it can be like describing a rainbow to someone who cannot see. No matter how hard you try, the words fail to tell the whole story? With three brushes in each hand, Denny paints portraits on six-foot canvasses in the time it takes to play a few carefully selected pieces of music. Whether painting Jimmy Hendrix, General Colin Powell, Jack Nicklaus or Martin Luther King, Jr., the power and integrity is always the same. Audiences, ranging in size from hundreds to hundreds of thousands, have been witnesses to a performance that is an exciting blend of art, dance, and music. The Denny Dent himself referred to his work as "a passionate dance on canvas" and those who have seen his creations are compelled to agree. Denny has been described as the world's only "rock and roll painter". This title refers to his original repertoire which featured Denny's renderings of music's greatest acts including: John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, Garth Brooks, Mick Jagger, Billy Joel, Frank Sinatra, and Tina Turner, to name a few. Since his beginning, Denny has performed to thousands of people around the world and has brought to life portraits of sports icons, entertainers, captains of industry, and political leaders. From President Clinton's Inaugural Ceremonies to the stage of the Woodstock '94 concert, Denny has brought his unique expression of creativity to people from all walks of life. His message is simple: "It's not what you do, it's the way you do it that makes you an artist. Whatever you do... do it with all your heart. Be what you are... Be creative!" The diversity of his performances have included painting Beethoven with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, painting John Paul II at the World Youth Day in Denver and a painting of Martin Luther King, Jr. which was presented to the family of the civil rights leader for hanging in the King library. He has painted Bill Marriott, president of the Marriott Corporation, Donald Trump, and Bill Gates, along with numerous other corporate leaders. The sports world has recently discovered and embraced Denny's talent and has added him to several of their events. In addition to being a major part of the NHL All Star Game, he was on hand to commemorate Colorado Avalanche player Patrick Roy during his 300th career win. The PGA had Denny immortalize several of their stars, including Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Tom Lehman, and Michelle McGann. Denver Bronco star John Elway has also been captured by Denny's talent in a benefit for the Elway Foundation. Winston Cup winner Jeff Gordon, along with fellow NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt and Indianapolis 500 legend Emerson Fittapaldi, have also been subjects of Denny's paintings. Performing in front of 300,000 people at the Woodstock '94 concert, along with the Woodstock Festival, brought his name to a national spotlight. Denny Dent shared the main stage with a group of diverse music acts, including Bob Dylan, Aerosmith, Melissa Etheridge, and Metallica. Denny quickly became a festival favorite and unified the crowd with an energy and passion felt by all. Ira Robbins of New York Newsday described Denny's appearance as, "The weekend's first defining moment... The prayers of the crowd... had finally been answered." Sadly, Denny Dents' flame expired. Artist David Garibaldi is carrying on his legend. Listings wanted by Art Brokerage.
