Art Brokerage: Eileen Agar British Artist: b. 1899-1991. Associated with the Surrealist movement, Eileen Agar is one of England's greatest female artists from the last century. She attended Byam Shaw School of Fine Art, moving onto the Slade School of Fine Art, London where she studied under Leon Underwood. In 1928 she moved to Paris. Upon returning to London, Agar became a member of the London Group, 1933, at the recommendation of Henry Moore. This group had numerous exhibitions throughout this period. In 1936 her work was chosen along side Picasso and Miro, for the International Surrealist Exhibition at the New Burlington Galleries. Her first solo exhibition at the Redfern Gallery was in 1942. In 1988 her autobiography A Look at My Life was published. Her work has appeared in many surrealist exhibitions in Amsterdam, London, New York, Paris and Tokyo. Her art appears in many museum and private collections. Listings wanted.
