Art Brokerage: Elijah David Herschler American Artist: b. 1940-2023. David Herschler's innovative "Ribbons in Space" are his unique contributions to contemporary art. These delicately balanced stainless steel, kinetic sculptures create a mesmerizing, meditative peaceful experience. They range in size from twelve inches to twenty-six feet in height. This new art form has a positive psychological effect on the viewer. The uplifting, inspirational nature of his work reflects humanities' aspiration towards higher ideals. A native of New York City, David was trained as an architect. He later earned a Master's Degree in Sculpture and taught in California. He resided in Santa Barbara. His "Ribbons in Space" are in collections all over the world including the Mercedes Benz headquarters in New York, Stuttgart, Tokyo, Berlin and Connecticut; Hartford Life Insurance, NASA, General Motors, Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Allegheny Teledyne, fourteen museums and hundreds of private collections. The majority of the Ribbons are suspended and move gently as they float in space, responsive to the lightest touch. The Ribbons appear to change shape and flow as if they are made of liquid mercury. The reflections of their surroundings glide along the immaculately polished surfaces, in ascending and descending motion as the sculpture moves, creating a mesmerizing dance. The captivating visual effect is accomplished through the highly skilled use of refined rhythmic movement and elegant pristine form, suspended in time and space. These sculptures are an embodiment of balanced, fluid movement...space, time and light. They are designed to create a mildly hypnotizing experience and lift the viewer into a more relaxed, blissful, timeless state of being. Listings wanted.
