George Inness
United StatesArt Brokerage: George Inness American Artist: b. 1825-1894. Inness produced a large body of work throughout his career, including only a few shore scenes. His shore scenes like all of his landscapes evoke a sense of spirituality-a philosophy that was very important to the him. Nature is treated as an intimate force, portrayed through his interpretation of light and style. His world was serene, peaceful, and at times, seemingly separated from reality, reminiscent of the tonal tranquillity of Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot's paintings. The tranquillity of the Barbizon painters was merged by Inness with dramatic colorism that was so characteristic of his later work. under an umbrella in the foreground of this painting. His pictures were often romantic in feeling, combining poetry of style and were quite beautiful and dreamy, but also utilizing his keen eye for detail and composition. Inness had a talent for making viewers feel as if they were one with nature which is evident in all of his pictures. Listings wanted.
