She received an art scholarship to the San Diego Art Academy in 1925. She studied under Ed Northridge, Alfred Mitchell, andrnEverett Jackson. Dowd was a long time member of the San Diego Art Guild and La Jolla Art Association. She exhibited at the Los AngelesrnCounty Fair, La Jolla Art Museum, and throughout Southern California. Her works are held in the permanent collection of the San DiegornHistorical Society. Dowd was living in San Diego, California at the time of her death on November 1, 1996. Listings wanted.
