Art Brokerage: Marilyn Muller American Artist: Marilyn Liberati Muller was born in Port Chester, NY. As a child she was encouraged to express herself visually and began drawing at any early age. Her first exhibited art piece was a still life in oil at age 7 at Columbia University, where her father, an engineer and graduate of Cooper Union, had been an instructor at the School of Architecture. She continued to draw and paint throughout her adolescence, particularly portraits, studied art history, and discovered the Theatre. In addition of fine art and design, Muller painted for the theatre. She chose to study Acting as an undergraduate at State University of New York at Albany, majoring in Theatre Arts and Minoring in Children's Theatre. Her love of children in turn led her to study Montessori Education in 1972. She taught preschool in both NY and CA. Later, she taught in the Long Beach Public Schools until 1979, when the devastating loss of a late term first pregnancy compelled her to reexamine her life. She returned to the Visual Arts, first as a private student of Keiko Atkutsu, then as a student at California State University Long Beach, in the Illustration program. Muller has been continuously studying painting/design and producing art up to the present. She served on the faculty of the Lighthouse Art Center, Tequesta from 2002- until 2007. She returned to her Theatre roots, by enrolling at the former Studio and Forum of Scenic Art, Cornwall NY run by Scenic Arts Studios, now based in Newburgh NY, from 2008 until 2010. She has worked at a scenic artist in theatre, film and TV in NY and in FL. Her last project was to paint two productions for Palm Beach Dramaworks in the 2012-13 season. In addition, Muller has conducted painting workshops in several South Florida locations with an emphasis on experimentation. Listings wanted.
