Art Brokerage: Scott Koban British Artist: Scott Koban is best known for his super-realist American mountainscapes and concept designs on movies like Batman. Koban's exploration of paint and design took him to Moscow in 1998 where he created a rock musical next to the Kremlin for Russian singer Laima Vaikule. "Before any project, I try to forget myself, let it come from somewhere else, or the mind gets in the way, starts judging. After a major work I feel in an altered state, returning from a journey that was not all in my control.' he explained to Russian press after the concert. The artist's oeuvre ranges from classic landscapes and surrealism, to designing backdrops for Detroit's automotive advertising. Born in London, UK, Koban attended the Brighton Art College in south England, then the Beaux Arts de Nice, France. Koban credits Pablo Picasso (who's own studio was a few hundred yards up the hill from his parent's home), and Salvador Dali for influencing his distinctive and varied style. Koban started painting at sixteen. Every morning he walked across French fields carrying a soup can with cheese and fruit, and painted surrealism all day. One-man shows, awards and sales to European and American collectors followed. Among them John Hancock III, Mrs Frank Jay Gould, Prince Egon de Von Furstenberg, Mr E Cardon Walker, President of Walt Disney Listings wanted.
