Art Brokerage: Andrei Bogachev Russian Artist: Andrei Bogachev was born in Murmansk in 1951. He studied at art school (for high school) in Saratov from 1961 to 1965 and at the Saratov School of Art from 1968 to 1974. He worked at the Saratov Drama Theater from 1970 to 1974, and from 1974 to 1978 he taught painting, figurative drawing and composition at the Saratov Art School. From 1978 to 1984 he studied at the Leningrad Academy of Applied Arts of the USSR (the Repin Academy) in the studios of academician Boris Ugarov and V.I. Reihet, National Artist of the USSR. Bogachev routinely participates in regional, republican, all-union and international exhibitions. International exhibitions have been held in such countries as Norway, Sweden, Germany, and the United States. He became a member of the Artists' Union of the USSR in 1989, and the same year he began teaching at art school in Voronezh, where he worked until 1994. Since then, he has been teaching at the State Academy of Arts in Voronezh. In 2000 he became senior lecturer at the Voronezh Academy of Arts, and in 2002 was awarded the prestigious title "Distinguished Artist of Russia". He has also been awarded other titles, awards and diplomas. Bogachev is chiefly known as a painter of genre subjects. He frequently combines portraits with nature. Bogachev's colors are soft and rich, which makes his approach more subdued and less harsh than traditional Soviet realism. Bogachev's work can be recognized by the loose geometric turn of his brush strokes with which he executes his subject matter. His works can be found in Russian museums such as Kromskoi Art Museum in Voronezh and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in Moscow, as well as in other museums, galleries and private collections in the United States, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Switzerland and Japan.
