Charles Hinman - United States
Art Brokerage: Charles Hinman American Artist: Charles Hinman was introduced to the New York art scene in 1964 in a show at the Sidney Janis Gallery titled SEVEN NEW ARTISTS. His work, which escaped the rectangle from the start, was noticed by Richard Feigen, and he joined Feigen's gallery shortly thereafter. During the next half dozen years with Feigen, his canvasses became three-dimensional, and they have been distinguished by these shapes ever since. The exposure at Feigen resulted in his being collected by many distinguished private collectors as well as a number of major museums in the United States and around the world. Later, he joined the Galerie Denise Rene' where he began to exhibit in Europe also, represented by Denise Rene' in New York and in Paris and Hans Mayer in Dusseldorf. He produced editions of prints with Denise Rene' in Paris and with Domberger in Germany. Editions have also been made with Graphics Studio, Richard Feigen Graphics, Pace Editions, and Gary Lichtenstein Editions. After Denise Rene closed her New York gallery and returned to Paris, he has continued to exhibit his work in galleries and museums in the United States and abroad. His work has been written about by numerous art critics and writers. Listings wanted by Art Brokerage.
