Art Brokerage: Dana Louise Kirkpatrick American Artist: b. 1976. Dana Louise Kirkpatrick seeks to heroize and sanctify marginalized, voiceless members of society. Kirkpatrick's art is peppered with references to sports, music, pop culture, and sex, as well as specific allusions to other artists. The drawing Wicked Box Yield Brother (2014) features an Andy Warhol Brillo Box, and her quick strokes and inclusion of text recall the art of Jean-Michel Basquiat. This synthesis of references is often darkly humorous, as in the case of Beijing's Umbrellas (2014), which addresses recent protests in China with a screaming man rendered in a Picasso-influenced style. Kirkpatrick holds the distinction of being the first artist to sell an artwork in exchange for bitcoin. Off Limits But Blessed By The Fed (2014) includes drawings of bitcoins alongside the text "In Fed We Trust." Listings wanted.
