Art Brokerage: Ernst Fuchs Austrian Artist: b. 1930-2015.Ernst Fuchs was an Austrian artist and co-founder of the School of Fantastic Realism. His paintings, sculpture, and prints address themes of religion and mysticism, executed in luminous colors and textures, which is achieved by mixing egg tempera with paint and resin. Born on February 13, 1930 in Vienna, Austria, Fuchs was influenced by the work of Gustav Klimt, Salvador Dalí, and Egon Schiele. As a student in the Academy of Fine Arts in his home city, he met Rudolf Hausner, Arik Brauer, Anton Lehmden, and Wolfgang Hutter—together, they would later find the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. Operating under the principles of painting from the Old Masters, the students explored ideas of allegory, symbolism, and eroticism. Fuchs died on November 9, 2015 in Vienna, Austria. Opened in 1988, the Ernst Fuchs Museum occupies the former Otto Wagner Villa in Hutteldorf outside of Vienna. Listings wanted.
