Provenance / HistoryThis piece was in the personal collection of Frank Gallo. At the time it was produced Frank Gallo was working on a series of Victor Vasarely multiples for Circle Fine Art. Jack Solomon, CEO, set up a meeting at Franks studio with famed artist Peter Max and encouraged Frank to interpret six or so of Max’s images in pulp. When Max came to Franks studio he was not impressed possibly because he produced all of his work in his own studio and liked to control cost and quality. Frank Gallo kept these paintings for himself and this one was hand signed by Gallo. It was professionally framed with TruVu and UV protected glass. The frame measures 27 x 34 approx.

Frank Gallo - United States
Art Brokerage: Frank Gallo American Artist, Teacher and Sculptor b. 1933 -Frank Gallo has worked primarily from the human form. Frank Gallo studied art from 1951 to 1959 at the University of Toledo, Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and the State University of Iowa. In the late 1950s, Frank Gallo began to use the material polyester resin reinforced with fiberglass that gives his sculpture a viscous finish. Although he is noted for his studies of women, some of whom are fancifully and colorfully clad, Frank Gallo has also made sculptures of men, including Abraham Lincoln. Frank Gallos' work is often mildly erotic, with elongated figures that may sit or recline in postures suggesting extremes of boredom or self-involvement. Frank Gallo has also made lithographs, using the same thematic material. Examples of his work are in the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C. and the Los Angeles County Art Museum.
