Geri Bedford

Art Brokerage: Geri Bedford American Glass Artist: For almost twenty years, Geri's vocation was that of a biologist working medical research. In 1989, she shifted her focus from her love of science to her equal and concurrent passion - working in clay. Her pursuit of ceramic art has held for her the same stimulations as scientific research. She has worked with low fire clays and used techniques such as underglazing, majolica, sagggar firing, and burnishing. She has particularly enjoyed working with high fire clays and experimenting with cone to reduction glazes and glaze combinations. Matching those glaze results with traditional and non-traditional clay forms, she has produced vessels, plates, bowls, platters and vases that are functional but can also appreciated their appearance alone. Geri's passion is fueled by the unpredictability and the quest to understand and manipulate the elements of earth, water, fire and air in order to attain a certain aesthetic. In 2001, Geri began exploring the world of glass, experimenting with flameworking, fusing, and casting techniques. Listings wanted.
