Art Brokerage: Gisella Loeffler Austrian Artist: b. 1903-1977. Born in Austria, Loeffler came to the U.S. in 1908 and settled in Missouri. She studied art at Washington University and created posters for the St. Louis Post Dispatch and began working in batik textiles. She became interested in Taos, New Mexico, after viewing an exhibition of Taos painter, Ernest Blumenschein, who was also from St. Louis. In 1933, Loeffler moved to Taos where she lived the remainder of her life. Loeffler illustrated and painted Navajo and Pueblo children in children stories, and also did numerous murals for children hospitals across the United States. Listings wanted.
