Story / Additional Info0This lithograph depicts a line drawing made into a lithograph of the famous french dancer La Goulue in the center of a dance ring speaking with another person while admirers look on. La Goulue was one of the most famous performers at the Moulin Rouge in Paris. She was one of the best known dancers of the late 19th early 20th century (La Belle Epoch). When the Prince of Wales (Edward VII) visited the Moulin Rouge, La Goulue recognized and called out to him “Hey Wales, the champagne’s on you!” The first poster Lautrec made to advertise the Moulin Rouge, was of La Goulue.
