Art Brokerage: Irma Stern South African Artist: b. 1894-1966. Irma Stern a major South African artist who achieved national and international recognition in her lifetime. Subject matter includes exotic figures, portraits, lush landscapes and still life conveyed in a variety of media, ranging from oils and water colors to gouache and charcoal. The Irma Stern Museum (governed by the University of Cape Town and the Trustees of the Irma Stern Estate) was established in 1971 and is the house the artist lived in for almost four decades. Several of the rooms are furnished as she arranged them.
Buyer looking for an original 1936 Irma Stern painting of a 12 year old white girl. Dress was a cornflower blue (a little darker than sky blye) -The dress had small buttons going down to the waste with short puffed sleeves, pink flowers, and a square neck line. Painted in 1936 between March and November -Painted in Irma Stern's Studio (where the Irma Stern Museum is today) in Rondebosch which is in Cape Town, South Africa. Please email hjoffe@comcast.net
