As a child, he had the tendency to play with a handful of colored pencils. When he was just six years old, his family - seeing the unusual interest young Jose Antonio displayed for drawing - decided to enroll him at the Escuela de Artes in Motril, where they lived. This marked the first stage in his never-ending path of color study. His first steps in the art works were as an illustrator. "Twenty-one long years lead me to permanently abandon illustration for the search of landscapes charmed by themagic Mediterranean dancing rocks, rough cliffs, and warm golden beaches that I could transfer to a canvas." Bueno takes a woman and melds her to her surroundings, turning her into a totality that is hard to remove. One that is joined to the soil, the sea, the color and the light.
