Art Brokerage Joseph Burlini American Artist: Joseph Burlini creates large outdoor sculptures, some of them as tall as 70 feet. His work is in the collections of The Pentagon in Washington DC, Chicago Botanical Gardens, Standard Oil Building in Chicago, and many other sites. He also creates larger-than-life portraits using Sanford's Sharpie Permanent Markers. His purpose is to create pieces for public and private spaces, as well as design and produce some custom awards. He works in bronze, steel and Plexiglas, and his styles range from abstract to representational. He also does medallion work and portraits with permanent markers, promoting the company of Sharpie Permanent Markers. He began as an industrial designer for Sears Roebuck and Co. and for six years designed cameras, toys, and sporting goods. For diversion he began drawing "Larger than Life" celebrity portraits, representing people from all walks of life. Highlight for him during his career have been the creating of two commissioned sculptures for the home of basketball star, Michael Jordan, and doing the Athlete of the Century award for Mohammed Ali. He also does a lot of work for the Pentagon, mainly drawings to record the history of the Air Force, and unique, custom awards to celebrate different events and to capture portraits of outstanding military men. He studied industrial design at the Art Institute of Chicago for four years and planned to do sculpting on the side. He bought himself a set of torches, and taught himself how to weld and sculpt.
