Leah Wingfield
United StatesArt Brokerage: Leah Wingfield American Glass Artist: Leah Wingfield began her career as a ceramic sculptor in the 1970s. Expanding her horizons, she studied glassmaking at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington with noted artist Dan Dailey in 1984. In the ensuing five years she continued her studies at Pilchuk and served as instructor and assistant to many renowned glass artists including Robert Carlson, William Morris, Loredano Rosin and Dino Rosin, Bertil Vallien, Clifford Rainey, Paul Marioni, Henry Halem and Judy North. In 2001, she relocated from her native Arizona to rural Applegate Valley in Oregon where she now lives and creates her sculpture. Wingfield often collaborates with her artist husband Stephen Clements on mixed media, large-scale pieces that combine glass work with steel and wood. Wingfield's kiln-cast sculptures are most often formed from clear, sandblasted, cold-worked glass with carved details. The work is figurative and expresses aspects of human relationships through its narrative character. Her intimate sculptures are charged with emotion. Listings wanted by Art Brokerage.
