Julian Ritter - Germany
Art Brokerage: Julian Ritter German-American Artist: b. 1909-2000. Julian Ritter was a German-born American painter best known for his painterly style and richly-colored depictions of voluptuous nude women, clowns, and landscapes. The author Phyllis Settacase Barton wrote of his work, "Labeling the work of Julian Ritter is not easy because his genius is not readily defined. This is because for most of his life he has painted women as though he were exploring a garden—with eyes, lips and nipples painted like blue, red, and pink blossoms." Born Julian Stawski on September 19, 1909 in Hamburg, Germany, the artist later moved to California where he pursued a career in the arts. Ritter earned a scholarship to the Art Center School (now, Art Center College of Design) where he studied under the American painter Stanley L. Reckless. The artist has exhibited his work at both the Howard E. Moresburg Galleries and the Poulsen Gallery in Los Angeles. Also he was given shows at the MGM Gallery in Las Vegas, the silver slipper collection was sold to the gene. Autry Museum. Ritter died on March 4, 2000 in Kula, HI. Listings wated.
Looking for a nude, a early picture according to his wife Lynn. It is of a young woman with golden blond hair, sitting on a blue valor quilt holding a black cat with white paws up against her chest. The cats right leg is hanging over her breast exposing a small portion of only one of her breast. There is a pure white cat on the valor quilt looking up at her.
