Kyohei Fujita
JapanArt Brokerage: Kyohei Fujita Japanese Glass Artist: 1921-2004. Kyohei Fujita graduated from the Tokyo Academy of Arts, Department of Metal Crafts at nineteen. At twenty-six he entered the Iwata Glass Co. and resigned two years later to establish a career as an independent artist. He is best known for his glass boxes with complicated surface decorations. In 1973, Fujita presented the "Japanese Iris" themed Liuli box. From that point on, the name Kyohei Fujita became synonymous with "Liuli box". They were the most ornate and magical Japanese boxes in the world. His work was included in the exhibit One of a Kind: The Studio Craft Movement at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, December 22, 2006-September 3, 2007. The Kyohei Fujita Museum of Glass in Japan houses 100 of his works. Listings wanted by Art Brokerage.
