Leslie Sayour - United States

Art Brokerage: Leslie Sayour American Artist: Inspiried by the bright colors of her grandmother's country quilts, two-year old Leslie Jackson started her own artistic career using crayons to create bright shapes. "Flowers make me happy," she says. "I can be in the dingiest parts of New York City and the sights of a flower stand will pick me up. If I"m depressed, just give me a bouquet of flowers and I'm fine!" "Spring is my favorite season because that's when the bulbs emerge. It's such a joy to watch them." Leslie is a self-taught artist, finding her inspiration in colors and nature. She began to paint flowers seriously in 1970 when Sayour rented a tiny cottage on thirteen spectacularly landscaped acres on a cliff overlooking the ocean at Point Loma, San Diego she became intoxicated with the colors, the forms, the language of petals and stems.
