    Art Brokerage: Manuel Felguerez Mexican Artist: b. 1928. Manuel Felguérez Barra (Hacienda de San Agustín del Vergel, municipality of Valparaiso, Zacatecas, 1928) Mexican painter and sculptor. He studied at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving "La Esmeralda" in 1951, at the National School of Plastic Arts of the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1948, at the Academy of the Grande Chaumier in Paris between 1944 and 1959 and between 1954 and 1955, at the Academy Colarossi, Paris, France on a scholarship from the French government. These last two are of paramount importance to their training, and that's where working with the Russian-born French sculptor Ossip Zadkine (1949-1950). Zadkine, an artist trained in Cubism, will become one of the major influences for the later work of Manuel Felguérez. Upon his return to Mexico, is part of the first generation of abstract artists national openly confronted with the tradition of the Mexican School of Painting, headed by Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros and José Clemente Orozco, to the generation of rupture belong include: Vicente Rojo, Fernando Garcia Ponce and Lilia Carrillo, who had met with Zadkine, and with whom he would marry in 1960 Felguérez, being widowed in 1974 when, after five years of paralysis due to a spinal cord aneurysm dies Lilia Carrillo. Later marries Mercedes Felguérez Oteyza, former wife of Juan Garcia Ponce. His academic career, held in parallel to his artistic activity, led him in 1967 to be a guest teacher at Cornell University, USA, and in 1975, guest researcher at Harvard University, and to provide the kind of composition Table Structure in the National School of Plastic Arts. Since 1977 researcher becomes Aesthetic Research Institute at UNAM until his retirement in 1990. It is a well known author who has developed in two parallel tracks: painting and sculpture, working in the latter area, has been able to combine with the mural sculpture, thereby occupying physical spaces that historically had been serving in Mexico different forms of pictorial expression that approached him. In the seventies, after transit inherited tendencies toward informality of constructivism, Felguérez increasing interest in the use of technology in plastic production, and makes two interrelated projects, multiple Space (1973) and The Machine Aesthetics (1975). Later, at the beginning of the eighties, leaving the work with the computer and return to traditional practices, which plays to date, always oscillating between two styles, one linked to constructivism, and another to expressionism. In October 2007, the sculpture was presented in 1808 Puerta Mexico City: one of the few pieces of Felguerez road. It has a good team of computer scientists, chaired by José Ordaz Israel Lugo.
