Art Brokerage: Massimo Rao Italian Artist: b. 1950-1996. Massimiliano Stanislaus Rao (San Salvatore Telesino, 6 January 1950 – San Venanzo, 6 may 1996) was an Italian artist. He studied at the liceo artistico of Benevento. Afterwards he studied at the Faculty of architecture in Naples. From the beginning he was attracted by the masters of North Italy, in fact he moved to Bolzano in 1976 and remains there until 1981. From there he moved to rebound adjuster knob of San Venanzo until the date of his untimely death on 6 May 1996. He has exhibited in many Italian cities, Amsterdam, Maastricht (TEFAF) and New York. In 2004 the Panorama Museum of Bad Frankenhausen (Germany) has devoted a major exhibition "Animula, vagula, blandula". At the Galleria Civica of Trento, on the other hand, has been staged a retrospective of his work, focused on the theme of time, since 1 November 2007 to January 27, 2008. In his works combine, always with an original and contemporary vision, Renaissance style with that classic, inspired by the Nordic school Mannerism and pre-Raphaelite. Using ancient techniques for preparing and applying colors on canvas. Massimo Rao was also known as "the painter of the Moon", because in his works frequently uses the image of the Moon, while the subjects are men, women, and asexual characters set in a surreal, oneiric dimension-in which we perceive the inner tension of the artist, the anxiety and the timeless solitude of man. Massimo Rao for the reasons above may be regarded as the Leopards of painting: the Moon and the breath of infinity are themes so dear to Leopards and Rao. His painting, in part, can be linked to that of contemporary painters anachronists but only with regard to the recovery of the pictorial tradition, because the themes and topics of his paintings does not give nor have ever attributed to pleasant arcadia of painters anachronists. San Salvatore Telesino (Benevento) in 2012 has opened a museum dedicated to the artist. Listings wanted.
