Art Brokerage: Maurice Berezov French Artist: b. 1902-1989. Maurice Berezov was an abstract expressionist painter born in Paris in 1902 and died in 1989. He studied art the the National Academy of Fine Arts, the Arts Students' League of New York, and the Hans Hoffman School, and was part of the acclaimed American Abstract Artist group alongside artists such as Louise Bourgeois and Piet Mondrian. It was at the Grand Central School of Art in New York City where he met fellow student Perle Fine, who would become his wife and lifelong partner. Fine and Berezov joined the American Abstract Artists (AAA) where they met Piet Mondrian. In 1954 Perle and Maurice built a one-room studio in the Springs section of East Hampton, where the could escape from the pressures and politics of New York City. Maurice Berezov was also a talented photographer who documented the Abstract Expressionist circle and parlayed his art school background into a Madison Avenue advertising job. Several of his photographs of Fine and the Abstract Expressionists — Pollock, Krasner, de Kooning and many others. Listings wanted.
