Art Brokerage: Nestor Ali Quinones Venezuelan Artist: Nestor Ali Quinones is always in for a joke. He is the comedian of the Grupo de Tova. Nestor managed to preserve his inner child. He is a self-taught man for most part, feeling that he was limited too much by formal. Cubism was his initial orientation. Painting for the sake of painting, is what it is all about for Nestor. One moment, he can be in a playful mood joking around. The next moment he can be dead serious with utmost concentration. In his work, this attitude is reflected in the deeply penetrating looks of the characters emerging from behind the loose streaks of paint. As if they are really with us. The deepness of the characters is accentuated by his original, three-dimensional way of painting. Close-up, his paintings resemble a collection of stains. However, as soon as one moves away from the painting, the shape emerges. This effect, combined with the deep looks of the characters and his authentic style of painting, make that Nestor's work is well received by the public. Nestor says: My work can be seen as a further development of cubism. I have a different approach to two-dimensional painting. The articulations I use in my work enable the spectator to go from one dimension to the next. It is like creating multiple levels, giving the painting its three-dimensional look. Another thing is that I try not to paint stereotypes. Listings wanted.
