Peter Goin
United StatesArt Brokerage: Peter Goin American Artist: Peter Goin is an American photographer best known for his work within the altered landscape, specifically his photographs published in the book Nuclear Landscapes. His work has been shown in over fifty museums nationally and internationally and he is the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships. Goin is currently a Foundation Professor of Art in Photography and Videography at the University of Nevada, Reno. He has also done extensive rephotography work in the Lake Tahoe region. Goin is the author of numerous books, including but not limited to: A Doubtful River with Robert Dawson and Mary Webb, co-authors (University of Nevada Press, 2000), A Field Guide to California Architecture with Paul F. Starrs, co-author (University of California Press, 2010), Black Rock with Paul F. Starrs, co-author (University of Nevada Press , 2005), Changing Mines in America with C. Elizabeth Raymond, co-author (Center for American Places, distributed by University of Chicago Press, 2004), Humanature (University of Texas Press, 1996), nNevada Rock Art (Black Rock Institute Press, 2009), Nuclear Landscapes (The Johns Hopkins University Press, 1991), South Lake Tahoe: Then & Now (Arcadia, 2010), Stopping Time: A Rephotographic Survey of Lake Tahoe with essays by C. Elizabeth Raymond and Robert E. Blesse (University of New Mexico Press, 1992), Time and Time Again: History, Rephotography, and Preservation in the Chaco World with Lucy Lippard, co-author (Museum of New Mexico Press, 2013) [Selected by the Pima Public Libraries in Arizona as a Southwest Book of the Year for 2013.], and Tracing the Line: A Photographic Survey of the Mexican-American Border (limited edition artist book, 1987). Peter served as editor of Arid Waters: Photographs From the Water in the West Project (University of Nevada Press, 2002) and also as co-author of the Atlas of the New West (Center for the American West, University of Colorado, Boulder), a collaborative effort with members of the Center of the American West at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Peter's photographs have been exhibited in more than fifty museums nationally and internationally, and he is the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships. Peter's video work has earned him an EMMY nomination as well as the Best Experimental Video Award at the 2001 New York International Film & Video Festival. At the turn of the new century, Peter was awarded the Nevada Governor's Millennium Arts Award for Excellence in the Arts. Listings Wanted.
