Philip Pearlstein - United States
Art Brokerage: Philip Pearlstein American Post War Surrealist - Artist: b. 1924. Born in 1924 Philip Pearlstein was a leading figure of the naturalism revival that took place in the mid-20th century as a reaction to Abstract Expressionism. Pearlstein's early works consisted mostly of landscapes, but after the 1960's Pearlstein began painting realistic nude figures in domestic settings. Although Pearlstein is sometimes considered to be a Superrealist because of the detail of his paintings, Pearlstein's work succeeds this title. Listings wanted by Art Brokerage.
