Art Brokerage: Park West Artist: Navajo artist R. C. Gorman. b. 1931-2005. Gorman is considered by many to be the premiere Indian artists. The New York Times quoted him as being the Picasso of American Indian Art. A man of today in every sense, his art reflects the racial memory and experience of an ancient people that remains timeless and universal. The deceptively simple, lyrical lines of his drawings provoked the New York Times to title R. C. Gormans as "The Picasso of American Indian Art." R. C. Gormans' work, especially the lithographs, drawings and bronzes, is collected as often by lovers of contemporary art as by those specializing in Indian Art. Sadly R.C. Gorman passed away on November 5th, 2005, he will be missed. Listings wanted by Art Brokerage, especially pastels and oils on canvas.
