By applying saturated, muti-hued layers of paint, with an almost architectural approach to composition, Rector has built a body of work that extends the legacy of Abstract Expressionism while also incorporating elements of his personal experience. Splitting his time between the deep woods of Louisiana and the Colorado Rockies, Rector captures the tones, textures, and mystical ambiance of his natural surroundings in his paintings' sensuous surfaces.
