Art Brokerage: William Perehudoff Canadian Artist: b. 1918-2013. William Perehudoff was a Canadian Color-Field painter considered to be one of nation's most significant Modernists. His works have an emotional resonance created through glowing color and simple forms. Perehudoff's representation of pictorial space was influenced by the great expanses of Saskatchewan's prairies. Born on April 21, 1918 in Langham, Canada, his academic education ended in the 11th grade. He along with his wife the landscape painter Dorothy Knowles regularly attended the Emma Lakes Artist's Workshops through the 1960s. It was at this workshop and others, where he met influential artists and critics including Kenneth Noland, Clement Greenberg, and Jules Olitski. The artist was awarded the Saskatchewan Order of Merit in 1994 and was named a member of the Order of Canada in 2001. Perehudoff died at age 94 on February 26, 2013, in Saskatoon, Canada. His works are in the collections of National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa and the Montreal Museum of Fine Art. Listings wanted.
