Art Brokerage: Robert Semans American Artist: Robert Semans began his art study at San Jose State University in 1968 under the guidance of Maynard Stewart, a protégé of legendary teacher Frank Vincent DuMond. After earning a Master's Degree in 1970, Semans continued his studies in Florence, Italy with the Italian teacher Nerina Simi. During his second year there, he also taught painting and drawing at Gonzaga University's extension program. This led to an invitation to be Artist-in-Residence at Seattle University where was to begin his career in portraiture with paintings of several prominent figures in the community. His portraits may be found in numerous corporate and private collections, including NASA, The San Jose History Museum, the University of Washington School of Medicine, San Jose State University, Alabama University, the law firm of Flehr, Hohbach, Teste, Albritton and Herbert, the Seattle Symphony, Weyerhauser Corporation, etc. Most recently Mr. Semans painted the official portrait of California Governor Gray Davis for the State Capitol. He has won numerous awards, including Best of Show at the 32nd Annual society of Western Artists Exhibition sponsored by the Pastel Society of America. In the fall of 1997, he was awarded the Best of Show by the Washington (D.C.) Society of Portrait Artists at its annual "Gathering of Portrait Artists." He has exhibited his work at the Bennington Art Center in Vermont, The Morseburg Gallery in Los Angeles, The J.R. Leigh Gallery in Tuscaloosa Alabama, and in several important exhibitions of the Oil Painters of America and the Society of American Impressionists. Listings wanted.
