Art Brokerage: Scooter LaForge American Artist: b. 1971. Celebrated for his lively and complex paintings which combine elements of figuration and abstraction, Scooter LaForge draws on a range of art historical and pop culture references to produce his captivating works. Often featuring intricate webs of objects, shapes, and patterns, the works are characterized by electric hues and expressive brushstrokes. The cheeriness these inspire belie their sometimes unsettling, surreal, and explicit content. In East River Park Flowers #7 (2019), a bizarre reinterpretation of the traditional still life painting, LaForge depicts a vase of flowers with prominent eyes and drooping stems. LaForge is also well known for painting on clothing; his one of a kind, hand-painted garments have been worn by celebrity icons including Rihanna and Beyoncé. He also works in sculpture and drawing.
