Todd White - United States
LArt Brokerage: Todd White American Artist: b. 1969. Born in 1969 in Texas, Todd White is an artist that has increased his profile beyond recognition with his distinctive style and icon popularity across the World. As an infant painter White had the guiding hand of his mother, a school teacher for whom painting was both a job and a pastime. After relocating to Hollywood, White's key formative spell came at Warner Bros Studios. Through character development, White began to forge his own artistic style and became part of the lead character design and animation team for the internationally renowned cartoon series Sponge Bob Square Pants. Throughout this period, White privately experimented with both style and concept eventually arriving at a process that today guides him through every piece. Until White can conceptually see the story in his head he refuses to paint. He always names his pieces first, visualises faces and personalities and then he develops each persons' story. The stark, unblemished delivery of his subjects is very much intended - what isn't necessary to the story isn't on the canvas. Hands are a focal point for White, reflecting the subject's state of mind, as much as body language or facial expression. " Everyone's hands are full of personality" he surmises, noting for example, how powerfully and expressively the small hand details will amplify an actor's performance. The impact is apparent in his Whites, in part, from his desire to reveal his subjects' inner most thoughts and emotions. Todd White creates timeless scenes of diverse attraction and of known intimacy, within the exaggerated features and textured skin of his characters lies truth, both yours and theirs. Many of us experience the subjects in White's work everyday. They offer us intrigue and interest, changing the way we both perceive the people we encounter and the role we play around them. White utilises the minute details within these as his source material allowing him to connect to the subtleties of what one shows and what one hides. White's paintings are captivating, demanding a second look often evoking humour or thoughts of familiar feelings. Above all the work is infectious. It has caught the attention and imagination of collectors around the world in addition to many Hollywood celebrities, stamping his reputation as not only an exhilarating and revered artistic talent, but also something of a style icon - the creator of highly collectable and much sought items of designer decor.
