He pursued creative expression in college and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Advertising Design from Syracuse University, Syracuse, and later graduated from The School of Visual Arts, New York, NY. Tom spent his early career as an art director in New York City. He started Tom Yacovella Advertising and Communication in 1973. Tom Yacovella has spent his life exploring and studying nature. Turning that passion into a wildlife artist. At an early age he was lured by the wilderness of the Adirondack Mountains that influence much of his wildlife art. Tom's 50-plus years as a creative designer and a burning desire to capture his outdoor experiences on canvas together has formed the basis for his wildlife art. His work is a studied search to explore nature's delicate balance and represent it the way it really is. Telling stories through his art, Tom's subjects' moods and postures range from natural wariness to the intimate moments of courting and parenting. His work is distinguished by his ability to express a nature that is free of cages and free of man's entrapments. Instead of animal portraiture, the viewer is treated to real-life dramas that Tom has witnessed in the field. Through his text as well as his paintings, he shares his own deep love for all things wild.
