Waldemar Mitrowski

Art Brokerage: Waldemar Mitrowski Polish Artist: b. 1957. Waldemar Mitrowski was born in Poland in 1957 and came to California in 1988. Mitrowski attended the Academy of Fine Art in Krakow, Poland. He has had gallery exhibitions at J. Noblett Gallery in Sonoma, Campbell Thiebaud Gallery in San Francisco, the Bolinas Museum, CFA Gallery in San Anselmo and many group shows in the United States and Poland. He has collectors throughout the United States and Europe. Mitrowski is a virtuoso painter who can move from deeply guttural primal expressions to the most subtle and delicate. His painting, "Dreamland" is a tour de force, with the mysterious illuminated presence of the woman commanding the dark and impenetrable space. It is a fully realized work and one that will stay in the mind of the viewer for a long time. The paintings command the space with power and grace. The work of Waldemar Mitrowski is rooted in Bay Area Figuration, but with a European painting sensibility. These figures have struggled to define themselves within the process of their creation. The paintings are richly layered with surfaces that move from gritty and coarse to whisper smooth and translucent.
