Art Brokerage: Carolyn Lord American Artist: b. 1956. Southern California native, Carolyn Lord was introduced to the California Regionalist Watercolor Tradition by James Green while attending Principia College in Elsah, IL. Her Liberal Arts studies included Botany and Architectural History, which have been enduring motifs throughout her artwork. Lord's early career capitalized on watercolor's portability with road trips in the Western United States as well as international trips to Italy, Denmark, Brazil, Virgin Islands, Mexico, Polynesia, and France. Lord's mid-career work has been focused on the vernacular architecture, landscapes and gardens of her home state California. As her painting career developed, Lord also started painting in oil, and recently some of the aesthetic aspects of Tonalism, and Impressionism are seen in her artwork. A "plein air" artist since college, Carolyn Lord was influenced by the 20th Century California Watercolor Style of Millard Sheets and his peers which often features bold color and strong design. She is a Signature member of California Art Club, National Watercolor Society, and American Women Artists. Lord has been in numerous solo and group shows, and plein air events. Listings wanted.
