Cheryl Laemmle

Art Brokerage: Cheryl Laemmle American Artist: b. 1947. She was born in 1947. She first gained widespread attention with the emergence of the East Village art scene in the early to mid-1980's. Her highly realistic -- almost Surrealistic -- approach to an intensely personal, always to some degree imaginary world was an East Village feature. Her interest in childhood was another aspect of a scene that believed -- sometimes to the point of insistence -- that art could be fun. Her art helped define something of a neighborhood aesthetic tone, which was at once optimistic and pessimistic, buoyant and bleak. Listings wanted.
